How to clean a microwave with lemon.
How often do you clean your microwave? It’s one of the most-used kitchen tools (we’re guessing). Keeping it clean isn’t just for looks. Along with a nice sparkly shine, regular cleaning ensures your microwave stays in top-notch working condition and odor free.
The longer you let splashes and spills sit in the microwave, the harder it becomes to scrub them off. But really, it’s super easy to keep your microwave clean. And all you need to do it is a single lemon!
1. Measure a half cup of water and pour into a microwave safe bowl.
2. Use a wooden cutting board to cut a lemon in half. Squeeze the juice into the bowl of water. Drop the lemon rinds in.
3. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat for about 5 minutes, until the water comes to a boil.
4. Don’t open the microwave door. Let the bowl sit inside for 5 to 15 minutes. Keeping the door closed will allow the steam to permeate the inside of the microwave, making cleaning even easier.
5. Remove the bowl from the microwave and wipe down the inside with a damp cloth.
Don’t forget to remove the turntable and clean. Wipe down the inside of the microwave from top to bottom. And don’t forget about scrubbing the door! When finished wiping the inside, replace the turntable. After removing stains, you will have a sparkling clean microwave, and it probably smells pretty darn good, too.
