Why Drinking Diet Soda Might be Risky Business

Do you drink diet soda every day? If you do, then you might have a much higher chance of stroke or heart disease.

That's according to University of Miami researchers, who recently found that people who drank diet soda daily were 61 percent more likely to experience a stroke or heart attack.

While the study's results still have to be peer-reviewed, that big a risk is well worth thinking about.

"The study highlights the increasingly negative information we are getting about the consumption of non-caloric sweetened beverages," said Dr. Jana Klauer, a specialist in weight control and nutrition.

"People drink them to save calories and enjoy a sweet taste, but diet soda hasn't lead to weight loss and now appears to be causing more problems than it solves." We agree!

Sugar-free diet sodas are full of chemicals and unnatural ingredients that don't do our bodies any good.

The artificial sweetener aspartame alone has been reported to cause fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, depression, anxiety attacks, blurred vision, memory loss and a lot more. This new finding is just another reason to consider giving up diet sodas, and choosing more healthy options.

Like for example, plain, inexpensive water! As Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D. points out the natural choice for hydration is water:

"Water hydrates better than any other liquid, but it only helps you if you drink it."

To help you drink more water, we recommend sprinkling True Lemon, True Orange, or True Lime in sparkling water for instant, calorie-free, all natural soda! No artificial ingredients or colors. Just a wonderful, fizzy treat. Even our True Raspberry Lemonade with Stevia is all natural, no artificial anything.

So dump your soda and pick up a water glass! Yes, it's a pain to have to change habits, especially when we thought those habits were good for us all along. But sometimes, the benefits of making a change outweigh the inconvenience by far.
