One of the most popular spices, it is known for having a sharp, pungent aroma and flavor that adds heat and depth to dishes. Black pepper comes from the berries of a pepper plant. We use Non-GMO black peppercorns in True Lemon Pepper Seasoning Blend.

Black tea is different from green tea because during the production process the tea leaves are allowed to fully oxidize before they are heat-processed and dried. The black tea found in True Lemon Iced Teas (including Lemon, Raspberry, and Peach) is a premium, Non-GMO tea.

Cilantro is an herb that is related to parsley and there is evidence that it has been used to flavor foods for thousands of years. Today it is commonly used in both Asian and Mexican cooking. The cilantro that is found in True Lime Garlic and Cilantro is Non-GMO.

Cane sugar is made from sugar cane, while conventional white granulated sugar may be made from either cane or sugar beets. We use just one gram of Non-GMO cane sugar to give our low-calorie, sweetened Drink Mixes the perfect flavor. In our True Lemon Kids, we only use two grams of sugar per packet. In comparison to many other beverages children drink, an 8-ounce serving of True Lemon Kids has 92% less sugar than 8-ounces of soda or juice.

Citric acid is found in all citrus fruits. However, there is not enough citrus to produce the amount of citric acid that food manufacturers like us use, and not all citric acid is produced in the same way. Our citric acid is derived from a fermentation process using the cassava or cane sugar plant. The plant is harvested and fermented using Non-GMO enzymes and is purified.

We use Non-GMO colors that come from only sources including fruits and fruit juices (e.g., grapes), vegetables (e.g., beets) and spices (e.g., turmeric). We do not use carmine.

Garlic is related to onions. Native to Central Asia, garlic has been used for thousands of years and is a common seasoning worldwide. The taste of garlic can range from strong and pungent to nutty. Only Non-GMO garlic is used in our Seasoning Blends.

Ginger is a popular ingredient in cooking, especially in Asian and Indian cuisine. Ginger adds fragrance, depth of flavor and spice to dishes, and also has many health properties. The ginger used in True Orange Ginger Spice Blend is Non-GMO.

Grapefruit juice is from the inside of the grapefruit fruit. Its juice is a cross of the sweetness of an orange and the tartness of a lemon. We use Non-GMO grapefruit juice in True Grapefruit.

Lemon juice is from the inside of the lemon fruit. We use Non-GMO lemon juice in our Crystallized Citrus Wedges, Drink Mixes and Seasoning Blends. It adds a tart, acidic, taste that can brighten up beverages and food dishes.

Lime juice is from the inside of the lime fruit. Like lemon juice, its flavor is tart and acidic though lime juice flavor can be subtler. The malic acid that we use is Non-GMO L-Malic acid, which is naturally occurring in many fruits and some vegetables, and helps contribute a tart taste to some of our Drink Mixes.

The purpose of maltodextrin in our products is to help our flavor components disperse better when cooking, baking or seasoning. Without it, the consumer will get big hits of lemon oil with pockets of acid instead of a homogenous product throughout. The maltodextrin we use is Non-GMO, and is solely derived from corn and is not used as a sweetener. Because of its low use amount, the maltodextrin does not significantly contribute to raising blood sugar.

For our Non-GMO natural flavors, we use not only the main fruit flavor (for example, raspberry or black cherry) but also a proprietary blend of other natural flavors from fruits, herbs and/or vegetables, which is why we don't solely list “Raspberry” or “Black Cherry." Since we use other natural flavors to enhance the main flavor, the FDA guidelines require us to say “Natural flavors” in the ingredient line and "with other natural flavors" on the packaging.

Non-GMO is defined as non-genetically modified organisms. GMOs (genetically modified organisms), are not occurring organisms created in a laboratory using genetic modification/engineering techniques. All True Citrus ingredients come with Non-GMO certification from the manufacturer.

Onions are a bulb vegetable and provide flavor, color and depth to a wide variety of dishes. The onion that is used in True Lemon and True Lime Seasoning Blends is Non-GMO.

Orange juice is from the inside of the orange fruit. It has a citrusy sweet flavor that is the perfect addition to liven up beverages and food dishes. We use Non-GMO orange juice in our True Orange Crystallized Citrus Wedges, Drink Mixes and Seasoning Blends.

Stevia is an herb that has been used as a zero-calorie sweetener around the world for hundreds of years. Our stevia is derived from Non-GMO rebiana, the sweetest part of the stevia leaf. This ensures a minimum of 95% purity, which is some of the highest in the industry. Our rebiana is only purchased from reputable companies that do not use chemicals in the extraction or refinement of their stevia—only water based extraction methods, which are safer for both our customers and our environment.

Non-GMO vegetable juice is used to help color our Drink Mixes. We use this instead of using artificial, man-made food colors.
